Choir Stories Video Competition Rules

The following terms apply to entering the Choir Stories Video Competition, Winter 2024.

The competition is organised by the Choirslist team at Choirfarm Ltd.

  1. Competition Eligibility:
    1. The competition is open to adults in UK who loves singing and enjoys or hopes to sing in a UK choir.
    2. Participants for this competition must be over 16 years old on November 20th 2024.
    3. Individuals who are not currently in a choir, but who may wish to join a choir in 2025 are able to join, and nominate the choir of their choice.
    4. For individual entries, only one entry per participant is allowed.
    5. Group entries are allowed and the prize would be shared between group members. Individuals can be in up to 2 group entries.
    6. Entries which feature and name a choir must include the contact details of the choir owner to enable the competition organiser to contact the choir to seek publication approval. Without such approval, entries cannot be selected for voting.
  1. Video Requirements:
    1. The video submission must be no longer than 2 minutes in length.
    2. The video should focus on promoting the experience of singing in a choir.
    3. If your video mentions a specific choir, you must get permission from the choir owner or leader.
    4. General videos about singing in choirs, or which do not mention a specific choir can be submitted individually without needing approval. Note the owner of the video.
  1. Registration, Submission Process:
    1. Participants in the competition must register before the registration deadline, (by midnight unless otherwise stated).
    2. Participants will receive an email receipt with next step instructions
    3. Participants will receive an email link to updated FAQs according to the competition timetable
    4. Participants will receive a link to the official Choir Stories competition submission form.
    5. Videos submissions must be uploaded as an unlisted video to Youtube, and then the link submitted via the official form by the submission deadline, (by midnight unless otherwise stated).
    6. Shortlisted entries will be informed by the competition timetable. Original video formats must be uploaded via the shortlisting form, for uploading to the Shortlisted page. Video file format must be compatible with standard video platforms (MP4, MOV, AVI).
  1. Judging and Voting:
    1. Judging starts from the date given in the timetable
    2. The Judging process comprises an initial shortlisting, followed by invited choir organiser voting, and then public voting, including by participants to the competition.
    3. The Choirslist team will shortlist up to 30 videos.
    4. A maximum of three videos per choir are able to be considered for short listing. If there are more than 3 videos from the same choir shortlisting, choir organisers will be invited to select their best three videos to proceed to the final judging stage.This ensures that all choirs have a fair chance of winning.
    5. Videos will be published for public voting as per the timetable, and public voting will open on that date.
    6. Voting will close on midnight of the voting closure date, according to the timetable.
    7. Final winners will be determined through a combination of votes from choir organisations and public votes via social media.
    8. Winners will be announced by email, and congratulated on social media,
  1. Prizes:
    1. The grand prize is free choir membership for a year (up to a maximum of £500), offered to 3 winners.
    2. In the event that the winner’s choir membership fees are less than £500, no cash alternative will be offered.
    3. The winners must nominate the UK based choir of their choice, and the prize will be paid directly to the choir organisation.
    4. The prize is non-transferable and must be applied to the winner's choir membership fees.
  1. General terms:
    1. The competition is run by Choirfarm Ltd, operators of Choirslist.com
    2. By entering the competition, participants grant Choirfarm Ltd the right to share, distribute, and display the submitted videos for promotional purposes across its various channels, or stills from the same videos, in order to generally promote the activities of choirs and singers everywhere.
    3. Choirslist.com reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not adhere to the rules or the spirit of the competition.
  1. Copyright, Privacy and Consent:
    1. Copyright of videos is retained by authors of the video.
    2. By entering, participants agree to have their video publicly shared on Choirslist.com and associated social media platforms.
    3. Videos selected for shortlisted voting will be informed by the organisers and must submit their original video format for publication on the competition channel on Youtube.
    4. Participants must ensure that their video complies with copyright laws (e.g., for music used in the video). Choirfarm Ltd takes no responsibility for the content of the videos.
    5. Choirfarm operated a takedown policy if it receives a complaint, in order to investigate the complaint, and in accordance with its general terms and conditions for Choirslist.com and related websites.
