Help us capture and share positive choir stories from your members!
Why promote this opportunity to your members?

How will the competition work?
Purpose of the competition
Our goal is simple: to create a fun competition that showcases what makes being part of a choir so special, which in turn will encourage more people to join choirs across the country.
We have created this competition so that there will be very little for choir organisers to do - we do know how busy you are! In order for your choir members to take part, all you need to do is to share a little bit of competition information with them, for instance in a weekly newsletter, or posting in your social media channels or groups.
We know that it is important that your choir is always represented correctly, so any video that features or names a specific choir, if it is shortlisted, and before it is shared publicly, we will seek permission from that choir's organiser before it is shared.
What your members need to do to get involved
To take part, members simply need to register before Sunday 28th February, create a 2-minute video that captures the essence of singing together in a choir, and submit an unlisted Youtube link via the online submission form which is sent to all registered participants.

FAQ for Choir Organisations
1. What is the Choirslist.com video competition?
The Choirslist.com video competition invites choir members to create 2-minute promotional videos showcasing their experience of singing in a choir. The videos will be shared on Choirslist.com and social media, and the top three videos will receive free choir membership for a year (up to £500), which is paid to the choirs of their choice.
2. Why should we suggest our choir members participate?
This is a fun opportunity that we think many choir members might enjoy. They can film snippets and put a story together over Christmas.
The competition is also a fantastic way for your choir to:
- Attract new members: Your choir will be showcased to a broad audience, including potential singers who may want to join.
- Build community: Engage your current members by encouraging them to share what makes your choir special.
- Promote your choir for free: The competition shortlisted entries gives your choir free publicity across the Choirslist platform and on social media.
- Celebrate your choir: Let your members highlight the joy of being part of your choir and increase its visibility.
3. How will our choir’s brand and reputation be protected?
To ensure your choir is represented in a way you’re comfortable with:
- Video submissions and shortlisting: Entrants are required to provide the name and contact information for that choir organiser who will give permission for sharing if their video is shortlisted. We then reach out to you to check you're okay with it. If we shortlist more than 3 videos from any one choir, you'll be asked to pick your best 3 to go through to public social media voting.
- Content oversight: You can preview videos whilst they are private unlisted, ensuring the content aligns with your choir’s values and image, and just let us know.
- Safe and respectful content: We encourage videos to focus on positive, respectful, and celebratory themes that enhance the choir experience. Any video that doesn't meet these standards will be disqualified.
4. What do we need to do to support the competition?
To support the competition and maximise participation from your members:
- Email your members with information about the competition and encourage them to participate.
- Promote the competition on your social media channels, encouraging your choir’s community to get involved and vote for your members once the videos are live.
5. How can we ensure our choir is well-represented?
You have control over any video that names your choir, this gives you the power to ensure the representation is positive and aligns with your brand. Additionally, you can guide your members on the kind of content that would best represent your choir before they film and submit their videos.
6. What happens if a video does not meet our standards?
If a member submits a video that doesn't meet your standards, simply decline to provide us your permission to use the video and we'll remove it from the shortlist. This way, you maintain control over how your choir is portrayed.
7. What are the key dates we need to know?
- Submission deadline: 9th March 2025
- Shortlist announced: 16th March 2025
- Winners announced: 31st March 2025
We recommend encouraging your members to start filming as soon as possible so they have plenty of time to create a quality submission!
8. How will the winners be chosen?
We'll do a shortlist - we're aiming to shortlist 20-30 videos. The actual winners will then be selected through a combination of votes from partner choir organisations of those shortlist, and a general public vote on social media counting likes and shares.
9. What is the prize for the winning videos?
The creators of the three winning videos will receive free choir membership for a year (up to £500). This can cover their fees for your choir, which we pay to you.
10. How do we get started?
We've sent you a suggestion of what to include in your newsletter, but you can point them to the competition page (not this page made for choir organisers) here.
