Thames Philharmonic Choir - Opera, Glorious Opera

At the heart of the programme are some of the great choruses of the operatic tradition: the deeply moving “Va, pensiero” (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) from Verdi’s Nabucco, with its timeless sense of longing and collective memory, and Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus”, full of ceremonial grandeur and familiar splendour. From Gilbert & Sullivan, we bring energetic ensembles such as “Now to the Banquet” and “Death to the Invader”, where comic ceremonial pomp and tongue-in-cheek heroics are part of the fun. The programme becomes a journey from lament to laughter, moving through comedy, passion, and spectacle. Solo parts will be sung by our excellent choral scholars; the concert will be conducted by Harry Bradford, and accompanied by Richard Leach.
