MUSIC FROM ACROSS THE POND

Our summer concert features music from American composers, with a snapshot of some of the music for our concert below. Listen to Morten Lauriden's and Samuel Barber's settings of James Agee's poem 'Sure on this Shining Night'; relax into two lullabies, written by Eric Whiteacre and Daniel Elder. The universal theme of 'The Road Home', was put to music in a tune from the 'Southern Harmony' songbook of 1835 by Stephen Paulus and brings a reflective mood to our concert and we keep to tradition by performing several of Aaron Copland arrangements of Old American Songs, including the Shaker song 'Simple Gifts' We hope you will enjoy our concert.
