Bearsden Choir Come & Sing Jazz

Bearsden Choir is delighted to host a fun afternoon of singing with a difference! The fabulous pianist Richard Michael will lead the workshop on jazz singing and improvisation which will be fun and light-hearted, exploring well known numbers such as ‘Summertime’, Autumn Leaves’ and ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’. No previous singing experience is required, just a love of music and a desire to have fun! Tea, coffee and cakes will be provided during a break. Richard Michael BEM is one of Scotland’s foremost jazz musicians, with a career spanning performing, teaching, directing, and broadcasting. An award-winning pianist and educator, he was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to music. Richard has influenced a generation of teachers and students with his innovative methods of teaching improvisation including 40 years work with Fife Youth Jazz Orchestra (FYJO) and a career as a composer, performer and workshop leader.
